How is your prayer life?

There have been times throughout the last couple of years that I don’t think I would have wanted to answer that question. You see, I had been praying for something for years. Seven years actually. A prayer that I wasn’t sure God was going to answer. Did He hear me? Did He even care about it? I’m sure I can’t be the only one that has ever felt or thought this.

And yet … I kept praying, pleading, and at times even begging for this one request. It was for a relationship, with my oldest niece, that needed healing. Only God’s intervention could help this.

I was often reminded of this verse, “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2. So, I kept praying. For years and years.

So now, let me skip to the God part in all of this. Yes, He heard me. Yes, He cared. And most importantly, yes, He answered that prayer in ways I never could have imagined.

Peggy and Maverick

I want to introduce you to one part of the answer to my prayer. I was able to spend time with not only my niece, but I met my almost 3-year-old great nephew, Maverick. Spending time with my niece was better than I ever could have imagined. The day I met Maverick he looked at me and said, “Hi Aunt Peggy, do you want to hold me?” I answered him through a tearful smile, “You betcha buddy.”

I want to encourage you today. No matter the circumstances that you are going through. Pray. Keep praying. Don’t ever stop praying. He hears you and He cares.
