Reaping What You Sow

by LeighMarie Stegman

“Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.” James 3:18

It’s time for each of us to figure out what really matters and then get busy doing it. Life is short and it is uncertain. As we have learned in recent days, no one is secure and nothing has yet to be built that cannot be destroyed somehow, some way. Nothing is more important than building our lives upon eternal realities so that we will be ready to meet the Lord no matter what happens today or tomorrow. It’s time for each of us to figure out what really matters and then get busy doing it.

Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.

We seek out wisdom our entire lives. As babies we yearn for knowledge to learn the ways of life. The world today leaves far too much room for error with so many different platforms to learn from. When we seek out the TRUE wisdom of life, we can only find it in God’s word. When we look to God for all things, we will then begin to truly live a life of prosperity.

Heavenly Father, we are so very grateful for Your wisdom, Your love, Your sacrifice. We all need to be reminded of the tools that You provide for us to have our best life. Father, we know that we fall short of Your glory in every way, but we also know that You provide us with the way to be on track to living eternally with You. Lord, in this season of celebrating the birth of our Savior, please continue to tug at our hearts reminding us that we can make differences just by sowing seeds of love, truth and peace all in Your name. May You continue to bless us with Your never-ending love and encouragement through Your word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
