Let Go and Let God

by Diane Richards

"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

Peace is described in the 1828 Bible dictionary as to appease. In a general sense, “a state of quiet or tranquility; freedom from disturbance or agitation; applicable to society, individuals, or to the temper of the mind.”

I know many of us are still reeling from the effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic. I would like to focus on the peace that Jesus bestowed on me during this most tumultuous of times through the quarantine and separation from the church body.

During this time of solitude, I started to focus more on being close to Jesus in my prayers, devotions, and readings. He came to be with me as I read more from the Word and the calmness that He brought to me became a peacefulness in my soul. This was my time with Him, and I enjoyed it so much. As I still do.

We all have our problems, illnesses, and issues, but He is there to be with us through it all. We just need to talk to Him. He hears our prayers and pleas. My mantra has been for many years to "Let go and let God." This has given me so much peace that I am telling you … take it as your own and you will see, His peace is only a sentence or a prayer away.

Father God, my El Roi, Thank You for the peace that You bestow upon me. You are generous and faithful. Be with us all as we encounter daily issues and problems. Please grant us the peace only You are able to provide. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
