The Whirlwind

Have you ever seen one of those wind tunnels that you make a reservation for, pay money, don an astronaut-type suit, and enter into a tunnel that creates such a forceful wind that you can’t stay anchored and it sweeps you into the air?

I feel like the last few weeks have been like this whirlwind experience. COVID restrictions, school reopening plans, changed reopening plans, virtual learning, no buses, no childcare, masks, social distancing, restricted gatherings … the whirlwind of crazy goes on and on.

None of us signed up for it and it was free of charge. What a ride it has been!

I don’t have school-aged children, but I have been navigating this from a different perspective as an administrator and ministry director. My heart breaks for all of our parents and kids.

Psalm 142:3 says, “When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn.”

I am grateful that in the stormy, windy, crazy times we can turn to the Lord. The families that have navigated these weeks and come out of it with barely a hair out of place, are the ones who let go and let God. They have showed deep trust. Even in the middle of the whirlwind they allowed the Lord to hold them up.

I am thankful for our faithful Father who sees us and holds onto us through every circumstance.

As we move into these next months of uncharted territory may we all turn to Him!

“May your gracious spirit lead me forward on firm footing.” Psalm 143:10b
