Special Little Gifts

On March 21, just as COVID hit, I ordered some personalized golf balls. There was a very special deal to buy three dozen and get one free. I finally received those golf balls a couple weeks ago. I had checked on them over and over again with no real communication from the company on the delay.

In the weeks before receiving them, the credit card I gave them was fraudulently hacked by someone and Capital One replaced my card. My golf balls shipped, and I was notified that my credit card was charged, but it was now the wrong card. I contacted customer service for the company where I purchased the balls to give them the updated card. After passing me to two different supervisors, they finally determined they did not know how to put another card into their system short of calling corporate, so they told me to enjoy my four dozen personalized Titleist Pro V1 balls.

I was reminded of something Jesus said, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matthew 7:11

Does God really care about golf balls? No. But He cares about me and the men I play golf with. I have been able to use this story to give Him glory by telling them that I see this as a special little gift from a loving Father for His son. Me. I see Him give us little gifts all the time. In sunrises and sunsets, in the smiles and hugs of children, and through little acts of kindness others show us. In so many ways.

So, I thank Him for His little gifts. It reminds me of His greatest gift: Jesus. “Every good and perfect gift comes down from above.” James 1:17
