Waiting

Waiting. Waiting is hard to do. I think we can all agree with that. I tell my 2-year-old all the time, “be patient, you have to wait” and she sits there squirming, sometimes crying, maybe angry at the fact that what she wants is not instantaneous. And I cannot help but see myself in the same mindset as a 2-year-old. I cannot help but see our country in the mindset of a 2-year-old. We want, we dream, and we strive for things, which is not a bad thing, it’s a great thing, however we all want it NOW!

I have had some prayer requests lately that seemed fitting for a speedy response. These requests in my mind are not life altering, they are simple. But I cannot make these decisions on my own, and I need God’s guidance. Now while I am waiting, patiently, not kicking and screaming just yet, I couldn’t help but think of the song “Yes I Will” by Vertical Worship. “In the waiting, the same God who’s never late, is working all things out, He’s working all things out.” Well if that is not reassuring, I don’t know what is! I think it’s God’s way of saying, “thanks for coming to me, I appreciate you having a conversation with me and spending some time, telling me about your wants, your dreams and the things you’re striving for. But … just wait … because you won’t believe what I have waiting for you!”

I pray this is not just for my situation, but for our country, for our world and leaders. I pray we are patiently waiting for God.
