Before and After

I was struggling in my walk with Jesus recently when I heard a friend ask, “what’s the point?” Every part of me wanted to scream, “because it’s better!” I don’t know about you, but I’ve walked through some pretty difficult things in my life, some of it before I knew Jesus and some of it after, and that one thing has made all the difference.

The "Deanna before Jesus" was always full of anxiety, depression and loneliness, and never felt like she was enough. Knowing Jesus has changed that. It doesn’t mean that I don’t face tough situations any more or that life is perfect. What it does mean is when I do struggle, I don’t feel hopeless or alone. I fix my eyes on Jesus and straighten my crown to remind myself I am a child of the King and of all the hope that comes with knowing Him. Following Jesus might not make this life easier, but it sure makes it better.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
