God is Knocking at the Door
Mat Dawson / Student Ministries Pastor
What is God teaching me? That He is more loving, kind, gracious, patient, and merciful then I am. He has the long game in mind while I sit and stress about the immediate future. I want God to answer my prayer requests in a timely fashion because, after all, I asked nicely and I am one of His kids. The problem is that God does not work on my American time line. We want things done as quickly and as easily as possible with little to no pain or effort required.
That is just not how God operates. His ultimate goal is our sanctification, our holiness, and He will go to any length to accomplish that task. He will even wait until we are ready to allow Him the access to our soul. There is a scene in Revelation where God is standing outside of a door knocking, asking for us to open it up and let Him in. This verse can refer not only to a salvation moment but a whole life transformation. Jesus methodically walks throughout “our house” knocking on each and every door, asking for permission to come in and do His “holiness” work in every area of our lives. Let’s not resist, hurry, thwart, or stunt His desire to do great and wonderful things in our lives. Let’s allow Him to open every door and align our soul with His.
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock." Rev 3:20a
