Do all things without arguing or complaining. (Philippians 2:14) Notice a specific word in this Scripture? The word all.
God has been dealing with me lately when it comes to complaining. With the winter being so long and cold, my attitude hasn’t been the best. I often look outside and say, “It’s snowing again,” or “Is it ever going to warm up? I’m tired of the frigid cold.”
It’s way too easy to complain. Whether it’s about someone who hurt you, the way our government is run, the taxes we pay or even the weather outside, complaining is wrong and it is sin. Besides, nothing is accomplished by complaining, except to take away the enjoyment of others and not please our Lord.
James 5:9 “Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door."
1 Peter 4:9 “Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.”
Instead of complaining we are to have an attitude of gratitude. A few weeks ago my son sat down next to me at church and said, “There aren’t many people in church today because of the cold, but I figured if Jesus could die on the cross for me I can at least come to church on a cold day.”
This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it!
Thank You Lord for the snow and cold and knowing that spring is just around the corner.
