It
seems so often this time of year that people are filled with mixed emotions
about the summer coming to an end. Some are looking forward to the more
consistent schedule that September might offer, while others are filled with
regret about not finding the time to do the things on their summer bucket list.
The rush to fit things in ensues.
I
often wonder if the same concept will be evident in me at the end of my life,
when in retrospect I can look back and can see with crystal clarity the things
that were important and the things that weren't. What was I so busy with? Was
my lifestyle one that walked side-by-side with God so that He could constantly
show me the “important” things and help me give up the unimportant ones? I
greatly desire to look back on my life and say “yes.”
What
are you filling your life with? Are they wonderful highlights that you’ll look
back on at the end of your life and smile, or will those memories be sacrificed
for the meaningless minutia that so easily clouds our eyes from the joy God has
for us. It all starts with walking in God’s light.
