We
recently got a puppy. She is the cutest thing in the world. Of course I’m
completely biased but I think if you saw her you’d probably agree with me. Her
name is Lexi. It’s been fun playing with her, training her and cuddling with
her.
God has been using Lexi to teach me a lot about my relationship with Him. Often we catch her in the backyard with her head to the ground sniffing around for a bunny or squirrel to chase. On her adventures she gets distracted and caught up in eating grass, leaves, dirt, rocks or anything else she can find that she ends up missing the rabbit five feet away from her. If she would only pick her head up she would find what she is desperately searching for.
It makes me wonder how often I do the same thing. How often do I miss out on the treasures God has in store for me and my future because I'm caught in my own little messy world? Often when I keep my nose to the ground I get distracted by worldly concerns and totally miss the joy that God has sitting in plain sight.
Like
Lexi all I have to do is lift my head (and keep my thoughts focused on Him) and
I will be able to see the wonderful gifts God has intended for me.
