The Blessing of Serving

Carey Dugan / Preschool Assistant Director

Did you come to Mega Camp? Better yet did you serve at Mega Camp? Now I “worked” Mega Camp for many years, typically in the kitchen feeding the volunteers. This was fun and I did what needed to be done and enjoyed it, but this time I switched where I was serving to Mini Mega Camp. All I can say is wow! I had a blast. The kids were really getting the message through crafts, games, activities, worship, and dance. I have never felt so invested or rewarded.

1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Now I know I was there to teach the kids and hopefully get them to understand “God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever.” By the end of those three short days, my bucket of joy was overflowing. Every time the kids answered my question, “where can we follow Jesus?” with “here, there and everywhere!” They knew the words to the songs; they loved doing the motions. They got so much from each craft and game. My heart just exploded! These little three and four-year-olds were giving me so much more than I was giving them.

Colossians 3:24, “Since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

I am so looking forward to next year.
