Stillness in the Midst of Motions
Suk May Yei / Pastor of Prayer and Care
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”” Isaiah 55:8-9
On Memorial Day 2025, sunny with a warm breeze, the Lord allowed me to meet Him in this very special way: Around noon sitting under the shade of trees at the bank of the Hudson River (downstate NY, in my most favorite village), meditating, counting blessings, watching the waves with little duckies floating on them and listening to the breaks and birds singing; while at the same time surrounded by a lot of excitement: military planes flying in the sky as part of the solemn Memorial Day Ceremony, local residents fishing and walking their doggies, mountain bikers showing their riding skill, tourists in groups taking pictures, families getting together for very fun picnics …. on and on and on. And it was exactly in the mix of all these that God gave me that tremendous inner peace and stillness that I couldn’t help but just sit there praising Him and journaling for hours after hours! This was so, so, so precious, Your Presence Lord! Thank You, Lord.
At almost sunset time, a relaxing sailboat, and an aggressive speed boat crossed paths in the river; with beautiful no-motion mountains and a busy bridge from a distance (where cars/trucks run over 60 mph) as background. At that moment God was showing me crystal clear: in HIM, peace/stillness and motions can coexist in absolute harmony …. not just in a place, but also in our daily life!
Thank You, Lord, so inspirational! Thank You so much that Your thoughts and ways are always higher than mine! No wonder You can tell us, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 You mean it Lord, and You even reiterated to me through one of my devotionals* weeks after I came back here! Thank You so much for all Your Promises (2 Corinthians 1:20). Praise You for all, Lord!!!
