Rejoice in the Lord Always

Anxiety. Many of us have dealt with it. I sure have in the past, and even so recently. So when God showed me what is going on in Philippians 4:4-9, I was blown away. He showed me that He has already written the best prescription for anxiety that anyone could ever take. And there’s a promise in this passage that if we can put into practice, we will have the peace of God, which transcends all understanding!

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

Neuroscientists have found something pretty profound that supports this verse: The human mind cannot be both anxious and grateful at the same time. So it comes down to what we allow to happen in our mind, and this verse tells us to think about things that are noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. And if we do these things, and put them into practice, then the God of peace will be with us, and the peace that transcends all understanding!
