Positioning is Everything

“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13

Several years ago, we were at a golf event and one of the players was about to make a putt that could put them in a tie for the lead. The crowd around the green was at least ten people deep. Even though I am above average height, I was not in a position to see what was happening. I heard the reaction of the crowd and knew he must have made it, but I did not see it happen. I could not describe it to you. I could not tell you anything personally about it. I was not in the right position. Next hole, I was in the front of the crowd. Not going to miss any more exciting action.

In the same way, we will be looking at the lives of people who were on the front lines of faith. They were people whose lives evidenced “being with Jesus.” They saw what He was doing. They heard His voice and followed Him like obedient sheep (John 10:27). They positioned themselves to not only see and hear; they experienced the powerful work of Jesus in their lives and the lives of those around them.

So, the first question to answer this week is this: Am I positioned to see and hear Jesus? If I was interviewed, would it be evident to others that I had “been with Jesus?” If the answer is no, what do I have to do to get into position?
