His Bride Has Made Herself Ready

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” Revelation 19:7–8

I recently had the joy of attending a breathtaking outdoor wedding in the hills of Siena, Italy. The setting was like something out of a dream—rolling vineyards stretched into the distance, the golden evening light wrapped everything in warmth, and a gentle breeze danced through olive trees nearby. The reception was beautifully arranged under the open sky, with long tables draped in white linens, flowers overflowing from rustic vases, candles flickering in the twilight, and elegant fine China and crystal set with care.

The bride was stunning. Dressed in a graceful white gown, her hair delicately adorned with a pearl-strewn veil, she walked with both elegance and peace. She had thought of every detail—not just to impress, but to welcome. Everything spoke of love and preparation. She was ready, and her guests felt honored and embraced.

This unforgettable celebration reminded me of another wedding yet to come—the one described in Revelation 19. “The wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready.” In this great picture, the Bride is the Church—God’s people—beautifully prepared for Jesus, our Bridegroom.

What strikes me most in both the earthly and heavenly weddings is intentional preparation. Our sweet bride did not throw her reception together at the last minute. She planned with purpose and joy. In the same way, we are called to live with hearts prepared for Christ—clothed not in designer gowns but in “fine linen,” which the Scripture says represents “the righteous acts of God’s holy people.”

To be ready is to live faithfully, love deeply, walk humbly, and serve gladly. It means living with eyes lifted toward eternity, knowing that the wedding feast of the Lamb is real—and it’s coming.

Are you preparing your heart for that day?
