He Is Still Working

Deanna Gworek / Finance Director

Recently, I’ve been pondering what it means to be “in a season.” That phrase never sat well with me, and I think I’ve come up with the reason why. My mind associates the word “season” with the four seasons … they come and go, you know what to expect, and there is a predetermined end date. But when we go through seasons of life, we don’t always know those things. There can be ups and downs, crazy curveballs, and unknown timeframes.

Currently I’m wrestling with why people go through long “seasons” of sickness. Why do people go through years of illness, pain and suffering? During worship recently, we sang “Way Maker.” It felt clear that God was reminding me that even when we don’t see or feel Him working it doesn’t mean He has stopped. I may never know the reason my family is still having to endure so much on my dad’s cancer journey, but I do know that God is with us every step of the way.
