Advent Devotional: Day 7

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
— Jeremiah 29:13

This wonderful scripture from Jeremiah reminds me of a time long ago when I was searching for meaning in my life. At the time my dad had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I had two small children and my husband had been laid off. If God was real, would He answer my prayers? I hoped so!

I had been raised in the church so as I searched for Him; I tried going back to church. Sitting in the last row with two little boys proved not to be a good idea! Not long after though, God showed up in the form of new friends. They shared their faith with us by simply living out their beliefs. I recall wondering what made them so different from others we knew. The answer came when we attended church with them. JESUS! Everyone was so friendly to us, and the church even had nursery for my children. My life was about to be changed forever!

As I searched for God, He was faithful to answer my prayers! He has been answering my prayers and showing up in His perfect timing ever since. He will be faithful to find us as we wholeheartedly seek Him. He has a perfect plan for our lives. At this special season of the year let us look for Him and expectantly watch for Him to reveal Himself to us!

Thank You, God, that You are not willing that even one should perish. Thank You that You are a God who listens and answers our prayers. Amen!
