Advent Devotional: Day 15

Who is like the LORD our God, the One who sits enthroned on high.
— Psalm 113:5

Christmas is fast approaching. Are you ready? As the day comes closer our lives become so busy. Shopping, baking, decorating, wrapping, concerts and plays, visits with family and friends, our schedules are never more full! Sure, all those things are wonderful. After all, what would the Christmas season be without cookies, twinkling lights and gift giving? Did I mention cookies? However, will you truly be prepared?

Why don’t we pause for a moment and prepare our hearts to celebrate once again the miracle of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ? The greatest gift ever given by the greatest gift-giver of all! The One true God. OUR most Sovereign God!

In all the busyness, pause and remember how much you are loved! God sent His son Jesus to live, to love, and to save us from our sins. Now, that’s a gift! That is truly something to take time out from the preparations and celebrations for. So pause, even just for a moment. Celebrate with Him in His word, talk with Him, and listen. He is there always! Pause, look around and see God at work in your life. Search for new ways to be with Him and live in His love and grace. Don’t let the busyness of the season take you away from the One who loves you the most! Pause and enjoy everything this busy wonderful time of year has to offer. And enjoy some cookies too!

Dear God, thank You for the best gift ever! Help me to pause and prepare my heart and busy mind while I celebrate You as MY Lord this Christmas and always!
