“This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”” Matthew 21:4-5

Negotiations are going on right now in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. In war, there is usually disinformation that floods the airwaves as each side seeks an advantage. Pictures and video footage tell the story. And so it is with Holy Week. Each day we take a glimpse from this battlefield to see what will take place in this war between righteousness and sin.

Jesus is approaching the battlefield, Jerusalem, site of the impending eternal battle. Hundreds of years earlier the prophet Zechariah spoke of His coming with the words above. Matthew includes those words in describing Jesus’ descent down the Mt. of Olives, across the Kidron Valley and into town. A king coming on a donkey is a sign of peace. It is the heart of God to desire peace with all His creation. So, He makes His desires clear: let’s be at peace. But what are the terms for peace?

As we begin this week, the question we want to start with is, “Do you want to experience the peace of God?” If so, the only way to have it is to begin with being at peace with God.

Are you at peace with God? If so, are you experiencing the peace of God?

Prayer Prompts:

Lord, we praise You because You showed peace to me when …

Lord, fill me with Your peace despite the storm of __________ in my life.
