God Was Good To Me

Peggy Farrington / Office Manager

Bob and I recently spent two weeks in the lower keys on vacation. One of my favorite places to visit in Key West is their cemetery. It is a unique and interesting place to spend time walking around reading people’s headstones. I honestly find it extremely peaceful.

We’ve visited the cemetery several times over the years and Bob pointed out this year that I have a habit when I enter the cemetery. There is one particular grave that I go to first and spend some time there. I guess I never realized that I did that, but he was right.

Joe Martinez is his name. I have no idea who he is, in fact I know nothing about him at all. Except when he was born and when he died. I often stand there and wonder if his life was full of blessings, or if he had many struggles. But there is one thing that I know … God was good to him.

It is so easy to say that God is good when life is easy, and things are going well. It is another test of our faith to be able to say that when our journey gets a little bumpy. My prayer is that no matter what I’m facing, no matter what journey God has me on, that I will be able to say that God IS good to me! Just like Joe Martinez was able to say.
