An Unexpected Blessing
by Donna Zangara / Director of Children’s, Next Gen and EH Preschool Ministries

I love how God works! He is the best at surprising us with the unexpected, give you goosebumps, highpoint moments in life!
A couple of weeks ago out of nowhere, one of the young men that I had the privilege to watch grow up in our ministry sent me a letter and a sweet coffee mug.
The coffee mug says, “Inspire Every Child You Meet.” As I read the letter it wasn’t long before I was in a puddle of tears.
This young man is now a Youth Pastor in the Michigan area. He thanked me for entrusting him with little pieces of ministry through the years. For allowing him to make mistakes and continuing to believe in him.
He is so grateful for the “Tribe” of people here at Eastern Hills Church that invested in him.
The part that really got me is when he expressed much he loved being a small group leader. He then went on to say that he still finds himself praying for Josh, Jacob, Carson and Ben. Did you hear that? He still remembers, and prays for these boys by name!! The group of boys that he was providentially placed to lead in a small group for a few years. 😲!!
He finished the letter saying that all of those experiences have shaped the person he is today. He was grateful for being shown over and over what it means to invite someone into the family of God.
The letter goes on to talk about a young 6th grade boy that he currently investing in. He is letting him serve behind the tech booth. Sometimes this newbie misses a slide or two, or forgets to turn the microphone on. But he can see a bit of himself in this student.
I am beyond grateful and humbled to be able to serve alongside so many incredible leaders in Next Gen, Upward, Fusion Inside out and throughout the church. There are so many of you “Inspiring” children and students. I am so grateful and humbled for the opportunity of a lifetime to serve in ministry to the next generation.
We never know where our influence will end when we choose to “Inspire Every Child We Meet.”
There is a generation of young souls all around you. Who can you INSPIRE today?
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11
