Special Gifts

by Scott Wilson / Facility Manager

Can you remember back when you were young and you received a gift? Whether it was a special occasion, birthday or especially Christmas, a gift was exciting to get. Chances are you played with that gift and carried it around for days until the novelty wore off. Some gifts were just "okay" while others were "special." The special ones received most of our attention and admiration and we got the most out of them.

When we chose to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, Jesus asked God on our behalf for a helper, The Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17).

The Holy Spirit, which all believers have by the power of God, also provides us with gifts. He gives us gifts according to what God wants to accomplish through us (1Corinthians 12:1-7).

Have you ever stopped to recognize the spiritual gifts you have been given? How do you view these gifts, "okay" or "special"?

What is most important about the gifts that God gives us is that they are for His purpose. If we remember that these gifts are "special" we should also realize that we are accomplishing God’s purpose when we use them.
