Faith Can Move Mountains

“Faith can move mountains.” Matthew
17:20
Faith can
move mountains. Do you believe that? Do you truly believe that your faith can
move an obstacle as big as a mountain? In the past few weeks my sister has been
in and out of the hospital dealing with complications from her Cystic Fibrosis.
Every time she goes it is usually a long stay, around two weeks. The doorway
leading into her hospital room has a window in it, and she and my mom began
decorating these windows to keep the light out from the nurse’s station. They
would cover this window in wrapping paper or newspaper, whatever they had lying
around. My sister will pick a Bible verse and write it on this window covering.
This time
around, she wrote Faith can move
mountains. She believes that her faith in a God so big will move her
mountain. We can feel small in our weakness, but our God gives a strength big
enough to make us feel like we are on top of the world, or on top of a
mountain. It may be there to keep the bright lights out of the room so she can
sleep, but I think that window covering serves a far greater purpose than my
sister intended. God may be using my sister’s mountain to move the mountains of
everyone who walks in and out of that doorway. And I think that room is way
brighter with the covering on than it would have been with nothing at all.
Father, thank You for being bigger
than we could ever comprehend. Thank You for being the solid rock we can stand on
in times of struggle. Thank You for being an ever-present light in times of
darkness. Give us the strength to keep our trust in You at all times.
