Singing As We Go

Sometimes I’m blown away by just how faithful our God is.

I had planned some prayer events for our college students back in September and just happened to put one on December 3rd. Then I thought, "Let's make it kinda fun too and go Christmas Caroling!"

So, the time came for us to go and out we went. It was the perfect night, a little chilly, but nothing a warm coat wouldn’t cover. We went from house to house, ringing the doorbell and then singing a carol or two. Some people just smiled, others cried, one gentleman even tried to give us money.

Our little chorale was getting cold so we decided to turn back. “Let's just go to this one last house before we head back toward the church,” we thought. We once again rang the bell and started singing away.

A husband and wife opened the door and tears came to their eyes. After the song ended, the husband asked “How did you know to ring the bell?” Not sure of his meaning, since the bell was in clear sight, we told him “We just want to share God’s love” or something of that nature. He replied “How did you know we needed this tonight?” He went on to explain their situation and how much they needed some joy at that moment.

It’s crazy to me to think that our Lord can orchestrate a meeting between some goofy carolers and a couple in need three months ahead of time. Praise the One who is faithful! The Lord sees you too.
