Laurie Warner / Receptionist
We never know what a day may bring! A few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon, I got a phone call from my son-in-law Brian telling me that our little granddaughter Anna Beth had fallen and bumped her head and was now in ICU! He said the doctors didn’t know what the outcome would be, since she was in critical condition, and basically unresponsive. After I caught my breath and shed some tears, I went to be with the Lord. I had this thought in my mind right after I hung up the phone: “In everything give thanks.” My reaction was of course “Really?” Then it came again and I knew it was God. I started to thank Him and the peace came to my heart. I knew she was going to be okay. I prayed, and then called Pastor Dick on the prayer hotline. I texted friends for prayer and called my other kids … then waited. I don’t know how much time went by, but the next time I talked with Brian he said she had turned a corner and was awake and responsive!
Bruce and I went to the hospital to ICU and there was our little dear sitting on her mom’s lap with wires attached to her little arms and a large bandage around her head. She’s only 13-months-old and she had a little neck brace on. She was still a little groggy, but she had smiles for us. It was so good to see her in that condition, after the original prognosis. She perked up quite a bit over the next hour. When the nurse came in to take off the neck brace, she did a little dance on Hollie’s lap. As the nurses came in to look at her, they commented, “She’s fine!” They were all amazed! God had really touched this little one!
All of the tests came back negative, nothing showed up! Not even a bump on her head. It was truly an answer to prayer!
We went in the lounge with my other granddaughter and a young woman came in and sat down. She was obviously distressed, so I started to talk with her. Her baby was very ill and she was alone there since her husband was home with their other child. It happens that she was a Christian, so my son-in-law and I prayed with her. Her baby had the same thing my grandson had when he was a baby, so that was encouraging to her since he had recovered.
Just the day before, I had been listening to and singing the song by Hillsong, “Oceans (Where feet may fail).” The words are so powerful and I was reminded of them as I prayed through this time. “Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders, let me walk upon the waters, wherever you would call me. And my faith would be made stronger. I will call upon your name. Keep my eyes above the waves. My soul will rest in your embrace.”
I long for my faith to be stronger, and my trust unshakable! When the tests come, God is faithful. That is the truth, whatever else we see!
Then on the next day, Sunday morning, Andrea sang this same song! My heart was just so filled with thankfulness! Yes, Lord, your grace abounds in deepest waters!
I have been so blessed by how many people have said they were praying for her! Thank you so much for your prayers! Keep praying for those miracles!
