I have four children. Of course, if you know me, you have only met two of them. The other two live in Haiti. They are two out of almost 80,000 sponsored children there. Their names are Ninie and Clivens and they are both 6 years old. In a recent letter that we received from Clivens, he was asked what his favorite thing to do was. He answered, “Carrying water.” These children have little to eat and hardly any opportunities to play. They are searching for hope. It is very hard, impossible even, for me to wrap my brain around what their life is like.

But I have hope for these sweet kids. I have hope because they are learning about Jesus. At Compassion’s child development centers “children have the opportunity to develop their God-given potential and be released from the poverty that has trapped their families for generations.”

Each day over 100 kids are sponsored on the Compassion website. Many people in this congregation at Eastern Hills have sponsored children around the world. Because of your sponsorship, hope is alive in their hearts.

These precious children will soon find that poverty is not the final chapter in the story. As they learn the exciting news that someone across the world has chosen to become their sponsor, their faces will light up with smiles of joy and thankfulness.
