Psalm
139:1-6
O
Lord, You have searched me and known me!
You
know when I sit down and when I rise up; You discern my thoughts from afar.
You
search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even
before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You
hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
Such
knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It
is high; I cannot attain it.
I
was challenged by Pastor Pat’s message about unpacking issues of self-worth.
Like many others, I also hear those negative things going through my
head. It was good to be reminded to be aware of those messages I hear, and
then how to take care of them. For me, I can’t let them take hold and become
truth in my mind. Sorting out the truth from the lies is not always an easy
thing.
When
I am faced with self-doubt and fear, I go to the word of God to see what my
Father says about me. This Psalm of David is very comforting. It tells me
of a Father who knows all about me, all the time. He is on my side! And as
is stated in verse 6, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me! I cannot attain
it!” Who can fully understand the awesomeness of God’s love? I know I
can’t, but I am so glad to have words of truth like these to meditate on when I
need encouragement. And who can forget “Let It Go”? (Thanks, Nancy!)
