Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each
other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a
humble attitude. 1 Peter 3:8
This past year I have been consistently praying for two things.
1.) Help getting fit. Age has caught up to me. 2.) The opportunity to share my
faith with others. After working in a church for six years I have realized that
all the people I am in contact with know Christ. I wanted to meet some people
that I could share my faith in Jesus with.
Last November I joined a fitness gym. Check. I thought God was
answering my first prayer request, but I soon discovered He was answering both
prayer requests. 1.) To get fit (exercise is not my favorite thing to do). 2.)
I was meeting people to share my faith with.
In May, Women's Ministry had a fashion show that required some
models. I asked a fitness instructor if she would like to model. She was
thrilled to and asked if her daughter could join her. As it turned out she
ended up asking several young women from her church, The Latter Day Saints to
be our models. They all came and heard the speaker talk about the Gospel of
Jesus.
Just last week while working out at the gym I saw an old friend
that I hadn't seen in seven years. As we were catching up she told me that
after 33 years of marriage her husband wants a divorce. I asked if I could pray
for her and she agreed. In the middle of the gym, both of us all sweaty, I
prayed for her and her husband, her marriage and her family. When I finished
she looked at me with tears in her eyes and said "that is just what I
needed. We were supposed to bump into each other today."
I didn't know where these women stood in their faith and I still
don't. I didn't pray a salvation prayer with them, but I was able to tell them
about Jesus. Who knows, maybe we will meet up together in Heaven and they will
say...remember the day you told me about Jesus, well look at me now!
There are a lot of people that are carrying the weight of the
world on their shoulders with just everyday stuff and they need to know God is
the one that can lighten their load. I still don't like working out, but now I
love going to the gym!
