Remember This…
Pat Jones, Lead Pastor
I was recently standing on the bridge on Main Street in Williamsville just above Glen Falls. I was waiting for a friend. Watching the water flow toward the falls and observing the smoothness of the rocks that were worn from the flow, the Lord took my mind to the Scriptures. An important picture formed.
All the water that has flowed down the stream to the falls has made an impact. All the water. Not just periodic floods. All the water. The stream is using all of its power, including all of its water, to carve a path toward its end. All the water is “important.”
I want us all to remember that. Why? Comparisons kill us and can be used to discourage us or have us feel devalued. In biblical history, sure there are David’s, and Paul's, and Ruth’s and Mary’s. We know their stories well. But there is a prophet named Agabus in Acts 21 whose name we know, but nothing else. There is a young Levite mentioned in Judges 17, but no name. The Magi who visited Jesus, the shepherds who did the same, the woman at the well and the woman with the issue of blood, all important, all a part of telling His story, but nameless, unknown … to us.
Remember always that the scoreboard of life is not here on earth, but is in Heaven. I believe some of the biggest mansions are reserved for people who are unknown to this world but used powerfully by the Lord. All of us are important, are a part of the flow, are being used for an impact. Remember that … when you are tempted to compare.
