In the Beginning

Suk May Yei, Pastor of Prayer and Care

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)

“The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.” (Isaiah 11:6-8)

“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.’ Declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Dear Lord, thank You so much for all Your creation, including us and all the animals! The above Scriptures have been coming to my mind a lot since quarantine time.

In the very beginning, the Lord had already revealed His calling to me as: “Prayer, One-on-One Discipleship and Connection.” He assigned me to equip brothers and sisters with a rhythm of life to become Christlike that they can multiply therefrom, all for His Glory! I am very grateful for the Lord giving me all the chances to conduct discipleship sessions wherever it’s convenient to the disciples: in church, at their homes, on UB Campus, or in all different fast food/coffee shops, etc. It was before quarantine, and it was already very exciting!

It was not until quarantine time, when there were no other choices but to conduct discipleship sessions through Zoom and/or phone calls, that the Lord made the discipleship process even more exciting! Never could I imagine that I could become friends to the disciples’ kids, family members, and pets by just seeing/hearing them and them seeing/hearing me week after week on a screen/phone!

So far I have not had a pet in my life, and I was so in awe when I saw disciples' doggies behavior; no matter how excited and jumpy they were, once they heard us start talking about Jesus or reading the Lord's Words, they right away became calm like a lamb lying down listening. And for cats, they purred! While I can now see them in person, they still do the same but now they can lay at our feet. And thank You Lord, in just three quarantine years' time He has already given me three cute cats and eleven cute doggy friends! I call them “Evangelical Dogs or Cats” and am expecting more to come!!!

It’s so amazing Lord! These are Your creations, Lord. And now I can visualize a bit more how Your Isaiah 11:6-8 will look like, and I am longing for that Lord. Thank You for Your thoughts and Yours ways which are higher than mine, Lord. Thank You so much that You are God, and I am not! Hallelujah Lord! In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen! Amen! Amen!
