Fresh Snow and Fresh Grace

There’s something about waking up to fresh falling snow that never gets old for me. The world feels quieter. The air feels cleaner. Everything looks softer and calmer, like the day is inviting us to slow down just a little bit. Snow has a way of making even the most ordinary places feel new again. Muddy yards look clean. Busy streets are calm. Everything gets covered in a clean, white, fresh layer, and when I see it, I’m reminded of how good God is at giving fresh starts.

This week, I was blessed with a snow day, and I was able to stay home and enjoy it, which reminds me every morning, God gives us new mercy. Not because we earned it or because we got everything right yesterday, but because He is faithful.

I know how easy it is to carry yesterday into today. To replay conversations, second-guess decisions, or hold onto guilt over things I wish I could redo. But God doesn’t ask us to live there. He invites us to step into a new day with a clean slate. Fresh snow doesn’t pretend that yesterday didn’t happen; it simply covers it with something beautiful. In the same way, God meets us right where we are and covers us with grace.

So today, I’m choosing to take a deep breath. To let go of what’s behind me. And to step into the fresh grace God is already offering, just like stepping outside into a brand-new snowfall.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22–23
