Beautiful Dance

Autumn Brovarchuk / Director of Next Gen Experiences, Worship, and Events

If you know me, you know I love to dance. The Lord has placed in me a passion and a love for music and dance. When I hear a song, I’m typically dancing in my mind.

I’ve been pondering lately just how much our walk with the Lord could resemble a beautiful dance. Ballroom in particular there is a leader and a follower. As followers we must be completely locked into the leader’s slightest movement and anticipate what could come next without stepping ahead of Him. Just like dancing, our walk with the Lord takes time and intention to develop and learn each other’s tendencies, flow, and rhythm. It takes practice and discipline.

But there is a beautiful moment that happens when you move across the floor completely in sync. As a follower it can be very tempting to want to get ahead and start doing your own movements, but very quickly that can throw the dance off track and cause you to lose balance with one another. That doesn’t mean the dance is over, you can choose in a moment to look back into the leader’s direction and submit to his lead. If and when you get out of sync with each other, the music continues to play, it keeps going.

It makes me think how life keeps going even when we are not following the Lord’s lead and direction, but how much more beautiful, meaningful, impactful, and purposeful life is when we follow Him and stay completely connected.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27
