Remembering Our Jordan River Moments

As the school year comes to an end, I am reminded about all the many twists and turns that we experienced, all the changes and adjustments that we had to make along the way. It made me think about the people of Israel who wandered 40 years only to wind up at the Jordan river, a barrier that they needed to cross to enter the Promised Land. Once they “stepped into” the water at flood stage, then and only then did God provide the way out, stopping the water so that they could all cross safely.

God brings us to moments in our lives where we must trust Him, and through that trust a true and lasting relationship is built. Once the people were past the Joran River, God asked them to build a monument, a memorial, so that they would never forget what God did for them. We would do well to do the same. We often forget to thank God when we are “past” the trial, and we often forget what God did to get us through.

Let’s keep trusting God to do what only He can do. Let’s keep building memorials so that we never forget His power and love that gets us through our “Jordan River” moments.
