Be Still

So as most of you know, I recently became a dad in August and let me tell you … it’s pretty awesome!

But over the recent holiday season I realized that this year it was a little more difficult and hectic to wrap and buy presents, visit relatives and friends, and find time to rest when you have a small child that pretty much does nothing but eats, sleeps, fills his diaper with special surprises and sleeps some more. It was stressful, but through all of it I felt the peace of God in my life.

It was all about finding time to “BE STILL.” It is definitely hard to do that during the holiday season, but you have to realize God can calm any storm in your life if you come to Him for refuge. A great scripture to read that shows us this is Mark 4:37-41. The disciples are out on a boat with Jesus crossing to the other side of a lake and all of a sudden a huge storm just whips them around in this tiny boat. The disciples are freaking out and Jesus gets up from His sleep and says “Quiet! Be still!”

I feel that sometimes God is trying to tell us exactly that and we tend to ignore Him because we don’t have the faith that He can fix our problems or that He can get us through a hectic day when it seems like we won’t have enough time to do the things we need to. But if we spent 10 to 15 minutes with Him, just to come to Him and have faith that He will work it out for His glory, I bet that hectic, crazy day would turn into something you would never expect. Don’t try to calm the storms of life yourself, BE STILL and have faith that God will work it out for His glory.
