Never the Same, but Always Good

by Betsy Cahill / Finance Assistant

My husband is retiring this month and we are moving to North Carolina. It is a very emotional time for us, packing up and saying good-bye.

I am reminded of a time twenty-four years ago when we were moving from Clarkson, Michigan to East Amherst, NY. It was the same process and we were sad to be leaving, but anxious to see what God had in store for us here. I was thanking Him in the midst of the grieving (moving is a grieving process) for all the brothers and sisters in Christ we would meet here. God blessed us so abundantly here with a great church and so many wonderful friends, I can’t help but trust Him and believe that He will do the same for us in our new state. He is faithful, always has been, always will be.

Two Bible verses come to mind: Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” and Philippians 3:13b-14, “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

While I will miss my friends, I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me there. It is never the same; but it is always good because He is good. AMEN!
