Worship At The Start
by Terry Geartz / Worship Arts Director
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24
Isn’t it interesting that Jesus finished His conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well with these words about worship? So now we must ask, what is true worship? How do we worship Him in spirit and in truth?
The only way I have found that I can begin to be this kind of worshiper, is by making my Father the very first thought of every day. It means that I don’t even want to get out of my bed in the morning unless I start by asking Him what His plans are for me and how will He use me throughout that day. I ask Him to help me hear His voice and to speak through me. I pray that I may speak His words and see people the way He would. If I can start my day like this and finish the day knowing He was the One leading, I will be able sleep in heavenly peace, wake and repeat.
"Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship." Romans 12:1
