My Mouth Will Praise You

by Jenine Szymanski / Next Gen and Preschool Ministry Assistant

Psalm 63:5 says “I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.”

I’ve always heard that singing is praying twice and something you may not know about me is that I love to sing. Now confessing this I must also say that I have no musical ability. But to me singing is a way I feel deeply connected to our Father. He has placed a song in my heart, and not just mine but everyone’s. Singing takes the focus off of me and places it where it should be, on our Creator. I have not always felt this way but my life is so much better now.

Another thing about singing is that when you start the people with you join in. As a mom there is great joy in my heart when I hear my children singing too. And the best news can be found in Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” It’s a two-way street. I sing praises to Him and He rejoices over me with singing! What could be better than that?
