God's Work in Me

Scott Wilson / Facility Manager

Recently I had the privilege of seeing God do an amazing work within me.

The day before the New Year’s weekend I was diagnosed via CAT scan with two kidney stones. Anyone who has had kidney stones knows how uncomfortable they can be. I actually had one lady tell me she didn’t know which was worse: kidney stones or child birth. Definitely not fun!

The doctor said I may be able to pass one of the stones but the other would certainly need medical intervention. After further x-rays a procedure was decided upon. Unfortunately that procedure couldn’t be done for almost three weeks. As the date neared for the procedure another CAT scan was performed for verification. Yep, stones still there.

During this waiting period I continued to pray that God would do what was best for the circumstances. Many people were also praying for my situation.

As the day came for the procedure a final last minute x-ray was taken for exact positioning then it was off to the procedure room. I was positioned onto the machine, connected to the anesthesia and sat waiting for the doctor. I spoke for a few minutes with the medical technician who was operating the machine and came to realize that he was very skilled and seasoned at this procedure. As he prepared to proceed I saw that there was some concern evident on his face.

As the doctor entered the room the technician looked at him with obvious question. With very little conversation the two of them left the room. Five minutes later they returned, the doctor holding the x-ray, both were staring at me.

No stones, they were gone! They really didn’t have a good explanation just that “it can happen.”

All three of the people in the room, anesthesiologist, technician, and doctor all looked very bewildered. I took a moment to give my explanation.

I told them that I had been praying for God to do what was best and that many other people were praying also. Obviously God answered the prayers. All three just stood there looking at me. Not a word from any of them.

I praise God for healing me at just the right time and I give Him the glory for His mercy.

Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise. Jeremiah 17:14
