Recently I had been feeling a mite dry in my walk with the Lord. I don’t know if you’ve ever felt that way, but it’s that feeling you can’t quite put your finger on. It just kind of feels…blahehayew. In those times, I would love to be able to just put my finger on what the problem is and fix it, deal with it, and get back along my way, but I just didn’t know what that thing was.
Then one evening I was thinking back on times before all the craziness that fills my day with family, work, owning a home, etc. The first thing that came to mind was how much time I used to spend, just me and my guitar, singing my heart out to God. It hit me then, why don’t I do that anymore? Those were the times I felt closest to the Lord, when I felt at one with Him. When I felt Him guiding, correcting, and leading me. I realized that I need to take times to be refreshed during my week. Times where, for that little bit, I'm not focused on teaching anybody anything or helping someone. Just telling God how awesome He is unashamedly.
Weeks get busier and time goes by so quickly but I need these times. Often, I only realize how much I need them after I’ve missed them. Do you take refreshers during the week? It may not be singing or playing music, but are you using the gifts He has given you to feel His splendor? Give it a try. “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8
