“Therefore
encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” 1
Thessalonians 5:11
Each
week I have the opportunity to pray and speak with people from our congregation
on behalf of Caring Network. There are so many people hurting due to illness,
difficult family situations, financial problems…and the list goes on. But what
surprises me the most is how blessed I feel after praying with these people.
I
recently spoke with a lady from our congregation who is suffering with severe
leg pain. She is also caring for her husband who has dementia. As I began to
speak with her, I was amazed at the wonderful attitude of this woman. She told
me she felt blessed to be able to care for her husband, she is content to be
home, and that God is always good. She said she woke up one morning to
beautiful blue flowers that were growing in her yard and gave thanks to the
Lord for all He has given her.
I
called to encourage her and in the end she encouraged me. I am thankful for
godly people who speak truth into my life.
